The construction boom in Chicago included many of the era's first skyscrapers.
By law, however, buildings in Chicago were limited to 40 stories in height. |
Welcome to the BASF celebration of 100 Years of the Master Builders brand
1920sBy the early 20s, the Master Builders name was well known for innovation and advanced concrete chemistry, especially in the area of flooring systems. So when the industry needed mortar that remained workable and waterproof in cooler temperatures, they looked to Master Builders technology.
Master Builders Master Mix® was developed to waterproof the cement mortar and keep it workable at low temperatures for brickwork and floors. Today BASF offers products such as Thoroseal® for cementitious waterproofing.
This Master Builders innovation, in combination with Pozzutec® 20+ accelerating admixture, changed the face of construction by minimizing the delays that were common in cold climates and at low temperatures. It allowed completion of more concrete work per day and hundreds of "winter built" projects to be completed on schedule and on budget. |
