Our Commitment 

BASF Construction Chemicals, which includes Admixture Systems, Building Systems, Wall Systems and Watson Bowman Acme, recognizes its responsibility to protect the health and safety of the public, its employees, contractors and customers and the environment in the conduct of its business. In this endeavor we will comply with all applicable governmental and internal environmental, health and safety requirements. Our internal standards may be more rigorous than those proscribed by statutory requirements. It is our conviction that sound business management and the protection of the environment and human health and safety are mutually achievable objectives. BASF Construction Chemicals and each employee is committed to the following principles:

  • Every employee has responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) according to his/her functional responsibilities and training. Educational and instructional programs to ensure that employees know, understand, and comply with EH&S laws and regulations will be routinely conducted.
  • As we strive to satisfy the needs of our customers, products will be developed, produced and sold in compliance with both regulatory and corporate EH&S requirements. Known hazards will be communicated to potentially affected persons. Products will not be produced or sold that present an unacceptable risk to the environment, to human health or safety, when used, handled, stored, distributed and disposed of utilizing reasonably prescribed EH&S guidelines and processes.
  • Facilities will be designed and operations will be conducted in such a manner as to avoid unacceptable risk to the environment and/or human health and safety.
  • Periodic audits of both active and inactive facilities, business systems, and key suppliers will be impartially and professionally conducted to ensure they are safe, environmentally sound, and contribute to the intentions of this policy. The elements of Quality, Safety, and Environmental responsibility are to be included as criteria in selecting Suppliers.
  • Potential releases to the environment will be minimized. Resources, including energy, will be conserved through responsible pollution prevention and product stewardship.
  • Adequate resources and focus will be provided to achieve both continuous improvement and sustainable development in these principles, our products and processes.
  • Participation with government agencies, the public, interested groups, and industry associations will be provided to support the development of reasonable and scientifically sound laws, regulations and public policy. ISO Certifications
BASF Construction Chemicals has made a historical commitment to our employees, to making high quality products and to focusing on customer satisfaction.  We have always found ways to continually improve in the areas of Environmental Health and Safety and in the area of Quality.  In 2005, programs were intiated to become certified in EHS (ISO 14001) and in Quality (ISO 9001-2000).

ISO 14001

BASF Construction Chemicals has achieved ISO 14001 certification for the Beachwood Headquarters management systems and fifteen manufacturing locations.   The Beachwood management system also completed the process to achieve RC 14001 certification in October 2005. 

ISO 9001-2000

BASF Construction Chemicals achieved ISO 9001-2000 certification in August 2006.  While BASF has had defined processes and a rigorous auditing program for decades, in 2005, the company wanted to formalize to the international quality standard to be consistent with its global organization.  BASF recognizes that quality is every employee's and every function's responsiblity.
