Gause Named Sales Manager for BASF Underground Construction Business 

Rispin to steer underground mining internationally  

CLEVELAND, OH

October 30, 2007 -- Chris Gause has been promoted to UGC sales manager for the Admixture Systems business line of BASF Construction Chemicals, LLC.  In this role, he will report directly to Alan Nedza, North American sales manager, with responsibility for sales and service of chemistry and equipment to the civil and mining underground markets.  

The Underground Construction group (UGC) of BASF's Construction Chemicals division offers a complete line of innovative technologies to support mechanized tunneling and underground construction. Gause will lead the Admixtures Systems North American sales team of seasoned veterans, including Kevin Hutchings, Lauro Lacerda, Brad Knight, Keith McDonald and Greg Miller, as well as a soon-to-be-announced sales specialist dedicated to coal mining. 

A 27-year veteran of the organization, Gause has served in many different capacities.  He has been working in the Underground Construction group since 1992.   

BASF's Construction Chemicals division has also appointed Mike Rispin as the global head of mining for UGC International, focusing on providing technical solutions for underground mines in the areas of sprayed ground control, backfill, injection, anchoring and abrasion control.  

Rispin is a professional mining engineer with a degree from Canada's McGill University.  He has 25 years of experience with the underground mining industry in operational, technical, sales, marketing and management roles.  His areas of technical expertise feature the application of wet sprayed concrete for ground support, and until recently, he was the Chairman of the Underground Committee of the American Shotcrete Association.  

He joins the UGC International group after 11 years with the North American arm of the company, most recently responsible for the Underground Construction group there.  He will be based out of Zurich, Switzerland.
