Rheopel® Plus Admixture from BASF Provides Superior Water-Repellency and Efflorescence Control
Domestic production provides cost savings to producers
Rheopel Plus water-repellent/efflorescence control admixture, from the Admixture Systems business of BASF Construction Chemicals, provides unparalleled water repellency, primary and secondary efflorescence control, increased strength performance and visual appeal to the manufactured concrete products (MCP) and precast/prestressed concrete markets. Introduced to the market last year, new domestic production provides reduced product cost and expanded availability.
The versatility and performance characteristics of Rheopel Plus admixture make it ideal for use in a wide variety of applications including architectural block, single-wythe masonry construction, paving stones, segmental retaining wall units, concrete roof tile, and precast/prestressed concrete.
“This new technology offers our customers both significant cost per treated yard savings and considerably enhanced performance, particularly in the area of efflorescence control,” said Kenneth Kruse, Industry Director for the Admixture Systems business of BASF Construction Chemicals.
BASF customers are reporting promising results with the Rheopel Plus product. With as little as 2 oz/cwt of the NEW Rheopel Plus admixture they are seeing improvements in water-repellency and efflorescence control that would require up to 30 oz/cwt to achieve using other product technologies.
