DELVO® Stabilizer hydration-controlling admixtures (HCA) Waste Management System
The disposal of returned plastic concrete and concrete washwater is an environmental challenge for ready-mixed concrete producers. According to the NRMCA, approximately 2 to 10 % (9.6 – 48 million yd3 [7.3 – 36.7 million m3]) of all concrete produced is returned for disposal potentially creating unnecessary landfill waste. With DELVO HCAs, producers can control cement hydration to better manage returned plastic concrete and also reduce concrete washwater.
Why it’s a sustainable technology
- Reduces the amount of water needed to clean ready-mix truck drums
- Reduces concrete washwater disposal
- Reduces the need for disposal of returned plastic concrete
- Reduces construction waste
- Can be used with the patented DELVOmatic™ Computer Software to provide management with environmental and profitability reports
LEED Credit Contribution Potential
-
May contribute to earning LEED credits in the Materials and Resources category, Credit 2.1, Construction Waste Management: Divert 50% from Disposal (one possible point) and Credit 2.2, Construction Waste Management: Divert 75% from Disposal (one additional possible point).
May contribute to earning LEED credits in the Materials and Resources category , Credit 4.1, Recycled Content, 10% (one possible point) and Credit 4.2, Recycled Content, 20% (one additional possible point) when sufficient quantities of recycled materials are incorporated.
How it works
-
Adsorbs on the surface of cementitious materials
-
Forms a protective barrier and controls the setting characteristics of concrete
-
Acts as a dispersant, providing water reduction, enhanced workability, and improved compressive strength
